EDUCATION STORYTELLING

Image

Throughout my career, my stories have taken me to schools.

As a local news journalist, I covered education in nearly every district in metro Atlanta.

As a national correspondent, I produced a half-hour documentary about student parents.

With Pearl Impact Media, one of my first clients was an education nonprofit working to uplift Atlanta Public Schools.

I'd love to work with you next.

If you're working in the education space, I'd love to showcase your efforts with meaningful, memorable video storytelling. Let's get in touch.

PURPOSE BUILT SCHOOLS ATLANTA

An Atlanta mainstay since 2016, PBSA sought a video that established the variety of opportunities and pathways at their three schools.

I shot ten interviews, collected footage from a dozen classes, and distilled it all into a video that captures their mission and message that now headlines their web site.

TEACH FOR AMERICA METRO ATLANTA

I had already signed up to attend this event. Then I was asked to film it.

A powerful opening speech. More than 20 breakout sessions. And dozens of attendees from the education space, all taking the day to build and learn together.

That's what Atlanta does.

That's what I tried to convey in this recap video.

LEKOTEK OF GEORGIA

I've produced several videos for Lekotek over the years.

(I've also been fortunate to serve on their board.)

For this, we chose a classic "Explainer" concept, showcasing how Lekotek serves both children with disabilities and their families.

But it's not just their services. It's also their mindset.

Viewers fully feel Lekotek's belief in the "power of play," which speaks to the lane they've carved in 40 years in metro Atlanta.

STUDENT/PARENT

Each year, more than four million college students face the dual challenge of pursuing higher education while raising children. I solo-produced this documentary for Scripps News, where I followed four individuals for a full day to reveal the struggles and triumphs of balancing school and parenting.

TEACHING CLIMATE CHANGE

In my home state of New Jersey, climate education is now mandatory in grades K-12, incorporated into every subject.

As a national correspondent with Scripps News, I visited a school district and looked at the landscape surrounding the issue.

COMMITTED TO CARE

A state that often ranks near the bottom in child care has become a model for many on how to invest in it. This story, which I shot, wrote, and edited for Scripps News, took me to Las Cruces, New Mexico.
